MonaVie's ORAC and Acai

I thought this bit of info might be helpful when talking to MonaVie people. This is a discussion I had with someone from MonaVie that couldn't figure out how our ORAC score was so much higher than theirs. The very bottom has some great info about where MonaVie get's their Acai.

One of the monavie people is trying to figure out how the gram for gram basis can not turn in to an outrageously high ORAC score,

1 ounce = 28.3495231 grams

JUS = 8600+ per oz.
MONAVIE = 1gram = 1027 // 28.35 (1oz) x 1027 = 29,115.45 per oz

Please if I'm wrong, can someone show me the proper comparison between the two.""""

Here is the simple response. 1. No one has any idea how much Acai is actually in the Monavie blend, so you can not just say that x grams = x ORAC. 2. The amount of grams in an ounce of Monavie does not equal the amount of grams times the 1027 ORAC per gram. That is like saying that there is x number of people per block in NY, so therefore there is that many per block in all of America.

Here is something else to throw out to them: OptiAcai is a formula that Monavie outsources and buys from a group, they say that this is the reason that Monavie is so strong in Orac. However, OptiAcai is in many products. http://vitanetonline.com/forums/1/Thread/853
